Oh hey, you’re here!
Thank you so much for looking me up. And now for the awkward “tell me about yourself” part. Here goes!
I’m a mom to those three boys pictured above. I’m a goofball, chocoholic, music and scary movie nut. A bit of an adrenaline junkie who likes all the thrill rides at Cedar Point, zip lining, likes to jump out of a perfectly good airplane, and do all those crazy aerobatics. Yes, I was the rebel child of four kids (third in line) growing up in a small town in Michigan. We played outside, climbed trees, rode our bikes all over town, had to be home “by dark”, walked to school, and loved snow days!
I’ve always appreciated the way a photo can take you back in time. As a child, I loved flipping through albums of my parents and grandparents when they were younger; and listening to their stories about them, I felt how they were transported back in time. I came to appreciate it even more when I got my first camera after becoming a mom 30+ years ago. I was obsessed about capturing every fleeting moment.
I love sharing my passion with others, and want to share in all my clients’ celebrations, from first photos through all the family milestones. My style of photography is natural and artistic. Capturing genuine expressions and moments is what I love most. I absolutely love and prefer to shoot outdoors, and/or in natural light. So, I recommend family and senior sessions to be outdoors, such as beaches, parks, river walks, etc; at least 2 hours before sunset, for the best lighting conditions. For families and newborn sessions, I can also come to you for a life-style session in your home.
Things I WILL NOT do at a Family or Child photo session:
• Ask your kids to say cheese.
• Expect them to cooperate or be on their best behavior.
• Judge you
• Expect you to do anything but put some clothes on and show up.
Things I WILL do at a Family or Child photo session:
• Get your kids to smile.
• Run around like a crazy person, dance with abandon, make faces & moo like a cow.
• Go nuts over your newborn.
• Encourage lots of play, even a little naughtiness.
• Embrace the chaos, messy hair, fingers in noses and mismatched socks/shoes.
Maybe you’re here because you’re looking for a natural photographer or a photographer with a “lifestyle” approach. Maybe you just want to look at photos that make you smile. That’s what I’m after. That’s what I shoot.
Speaking of the shoot, session lengths are anywhere from one hour to two hours (two-three for newborns) and can take place at an outdoor location, your home, or both.
Sometimes things go wrong. There are meltdowns, sicknesses, and weather shenanigans. We’ll work around these and reschedule if it makes sense. No stress.
